Fia GT1 Nurburgring - Maserati: La pioggia condiziona la Qualifying Race |

 La pioggia, caduta a circa metà gara, ha sicuramente condizionato il risultato finale della Qualifying Race nel sesto round del campionato mondiale FIA GT1 sul circuito del Nuerburgring in Germania.
Alla 19° tornata, con il cambio piloti effettuato da buona parte dei team, iniziava a scendere una pioggia battente, costringendo molte vetture al rientro ai box per montare le gomme rain. Tra questi però non rientravano Bertolini ed Heger che continuavano a girare con pneumatici slick. La Maserati MC12 N. 1 approfittando di questa situazione e del fatto che nel frattempo aveva smesso di piovere, si portava al comando della corsa. Purtroppo però, la pista non si asciugava in fretta, permettendo agli avversari di rimontare e superare il pilota italiano.
Alla bandiera a scacchi la migliore tra le vetture del Tridente era la N. 2 di Bernoldi/Ramos, che chiudeva al 7° posto, grazie anche ad una bella partenza del brasiliano che dalla 18° piazza saliva in 8°. L'altra MC12 del Vitaphone Racing Team con Bartels/Bertolini arrivava 10°, mentre la coppia tedesca Mueller/Heger del Triple H Team Hegersprot in 13°.
La partenza era fatale per la Maserati MC 12 N. 34 di Pier Guidi/Longin: il pilota italiano colpito duramente poche centinaia di metri dopo il via, era costretto al ritiro.
Andrea Bertolini- Maserati MC12 N. 1 - Vitaphone Racing Team: "Al rientro in pista dopo il cambio pilota sentivo che potevo andare a riprendere i primi. Poi, con la pioggia, abbiamo deciso di proseguire, anche perché nei due giorni precedenti l?asfalto si era sempre asciugato velocemente. Inizialmente la scelta pagava, ci abbiamo provato. Un vero peccato.
Sono fortunato ad essere arrivato al traguardo con le slick. E' stata veramente dura. Domani partiamo dal decimo posto e dobbiamo salire sul podio ".
Miguel Ramos- Maserati MC12 N. 2 - Vitaphone Racing Team: "Sono soddisfatto del risultato della gara, anche perché siamo partiti dalle retrovie. Enrique è stato bravo in partenza recuperando numerose posizioni. Appena sono salito sulla vettura ha iniziato a piovere e abbiamo scelto di rientrare per cambiare le gomme; con le rain ho trovato il ritmo giusto. Domani nella Championship Race occorre fare attenzione alla partenza, ma soprattutto occorre fortuna: un incidente come quello di oggi può compromettere tutto".

Darren Turner and Tomas Enge converted their pole position into the first win of the weekend at the Nurburgring as Turner took the chequered flag in the Young Driver AMR Aston Martin DB9 to claim victory in the FIA GT1 World Championship Qualifying Race. The rain returned in the second half of the race, forcing most of the teams to complete a second pitstop for Michelin wets, but the Young Driver Aston continued to be the car to beat this weekend in wet or dry conditions. Second place went to the Phoenix Racing / Carsport Corvette Z06 of Alex Margaritis and Marc Hennerici, finishing nine seconds behind the lead car in the tricky conditions. Peter Kox and Christopher Haase completed the top three in teh Reiter Lamborghini Murcielago with Kox taking the flag ahead of Ricardo Zonta in the nr25 Reiter Lamborghini.

 Heavy rain brought a premature end to Pre-Qualifying at Nurburgring as the weather continued to play havoc with the build-up to the sixth round of the championship.
A heavy downpour with 10 minutes of the 80-minute session brought out the red flag due to standing water on the track surface.
When the session ended, the Young Driver Aston Martin No.7 Darren Turner and Tomas Enge was top of the time sheets.
Second fastest was the No.40 Marc VDS of Bas Leinders and Maxime Martin ahead of the No.3 Swiss Racing Nissan GT-R of Karl Wendlinger and Henri Moser.

 The Nurburgring weather held for the 60-minute qualifying, with Darren Turner and Tomas Enge taking their second pole position of the 2010 season, with Turner posting a 1m57.155s lap in the Q3 session for Round 6 of the 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship at the Nurburgring in Germany. The top three places on the grid for this afternoon's race are filled by German teams, with the nr24 Reiter Lamborghini of Peter Kox and Christopher Haase finishing second in qualifying and the All-Inkl.com Munnich Motorsport Lamborghini of Dominik Schwager and Nicky Pastorelli in third.
The first qualifying session was topped by the Hexis AMR Aston Martin of Frederic Makowiecki in a time of 1m57.171, with Darren Turner posting the second fastest lap. Seven cars didn't make the cut - 2,4,5,12,22,33,41.
The second qualifying session was declared wet when rain was reported from T5 to T9, but the track remained dry as the rain skirted the circuit. Tomas Enge topped the timing sheet with a 1m57.182 lap, ahead of the nr8 Young Driver AMR Aston of Stefan Mucke with a 1m57.292.
The third and final session got underway but Christopher Nygaard elected to sit in the pits and take no part in the session, the team reporting no problem with the car and saying it was to save tyre wear for the race. Again the cloud was building over the circuit but the rain held off until the chequered flag.

 The nr8 Young Driver AMR Aston Martin DB9 of Stefan Mucke and Christoffer Nygaard was the quickest car in the Free Practice session at the Nurburgring. Heavy rain made track condition extremely tricky and a number cars slid off the track during the 80-minute session. As the session progress the rain eased and a dry line started to appear as the chequered flag approached. Mucke and Nygaard's Aston Martin set a time 2m13.147, 1.5 seconds quicker that the nr37 All-Inkl.com Munnich Motorsport Lamborghini of Marc Basseng and Thomas Jager. The top six cars represented each of the six manufacturers in the championship.
